A location near me now houses an artificial rattlesnake den! Two weeks ago, fifteen snakes were introduced to it — eight adults and seven youngsters. At first they were all a little skittish but they seem to be adjusting to having humans walking nearby. I stopped in yesterday to see what was going on. Almost everyone was out basking, cuddled up with each other as usual.
The babies were very active, crawling all over the adults.
And… this baby is in the “blue” phase, preparing to shed. He’ll have a brand new rattle segment when he’s finished.
